Welcome to the Visitor's Page of the New York Criminal Bar Association's Website.

We believe that our Website is the most current, comprehensive and useful site on the entire Internet for criminal defense attorneys in the New York City Metropolitan area. By clicking on the buttons listed on the left, you will get a preview of some of the many features that are available to our Members - although the information that is available to our Members is obviously presented in a far more comprehensive fashion.

For example, the "Telephone Directory" Section contains updated information as to hundreds - if not thousands - of telephone numbers and addresses that New York criminal defense attorneys use on a daily basis; and, because we have attempted to link our site to the directory pages of other sites (like that of the official court site for the Southern District of New York), the information we provide always remains current.

The "Investigative Resources" Section provides easy access to a broad range of resources to locate information (such as the whereabout of potential witnesses) needed to effectively represent your client.

The "Legal Research" Section provides access to virtually all of the free legal research materials that are available on the Internet today. As to Federal cases, we are pleased to announce that we have negotiated a special free benefit that is available to all of our Members: as part of their membership in the NYCBA, they get unlimited access to the two legal research sites on the Internet maintained by the publishers of Punch and Jurists. Those sites (the P&J sites), which are located at www.fedcrimlaw.com and www.ussguide.com, include the following features:

• The P&J sites include summaries of and the full text of more than 12,000 recent Federal criminal cases - including more than 1,000 of the most significant criminal cases decided by the Supreme Court in the past 50 years and the full text of every criminal decision decided by the Second Circuit from January 1, 1995 to date.
• The P&J sites include the only online version of Richard Ware Levitt's Second Circuit Criminal Law Update - a feature that contains his summaries of every single criminal decision from the Second Circuit from January 1, 1988 to date.
• The P&J cites include a number of different search engines, including a key word search engine that allows you to search for cases using plain English, and a Guideline search engine that allows you to search for cases by Guideline Section Number - and, if you wish, you can limit your search to cases from the Second Circuit.

In short, the research features that are available to our members are extensive - and growing - and exceptionally useful to those engaged in the practice of criminal defense - both State and Federal.
